Papier Mache Pets

In Art class, fourth graders learned the difference between shape (2-D) and form (3-D) while creating these papier mache pets. Students could choose between a cat or a dog and they could decorate their pet to look realistic or abstract. Nice work artists!

  1. They are adorable! Are those cardboard cones inside? Did you have to weight them down in any way to keep big-nose dogs from tipping over?

  2. So cute!! I posted about this on my blog:

  3. Thank you! Yes, those are cardboard cones inside. They use to have yarn wrapped around them and are very thick cardboard. Had not issues with any tipping. Thanks Marcia for posting the pic on your site! :)

  4. They look like a 3rd grader made them. It might be a nice craft for kids.

    1. Why would you say that it looks like a 3rd grader made them? This is a project I will do with my 4th and 5th grade, awesome job, they are wonderful!

  5. Do you have a how to make these anywhere? Or the steps you did with your students to achieve the end result? They look so great... and I want to try it with my 4th graders!
